Saronsberg ranked No. 1 at Syrah du Monde 2024, France

PATIENCE required… The 2022 Saronsberg Shiraz came top at the 2024 Syrah du Monde held in the Rhône, France. This just weeks after the Tulbagh cellar struck gold with the same vintage at the International Wine Challenge (UK). However, the wanna-have will only be released onto the market in 2025.

Saronsberg also achieved a spot among the Top 10 with their Shiraz-driven blend, the 2022 Full Circle, also being held back while the 2021 vintage is on sale – 2021 also the vintage of the third South African gold medallist in the competition, from the Babylonstoren cellar in Paarl.

There were 214 wines from 18 countries entered in the 18th edition of Syrah du Monde. The most successful nations in terms of their medal hauls were Australia and France, winners of seven and six golds respectively. In total, after two days of deliberation, there were 26 golds and 45 silvers awarded by panels of wine experts from around the world.
