THE WEATHERMAN promised sunshine on Sunday 30 April in Cape Town, but would-be picnickers were warned that it could be cloudy on Saturday the 29th, the first day of the Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival at the Kenilworth Racecourse. Who knew what the weather would do when the roadshow got to Durban’s Chris Saunders Park in uMhlanga on Saturday 19 August!

Close to 40 wine producers and brand owners signed up for a stand at the Kenilworth Racecourse, although excluding the famous Kanonkop of Stellenbosch and Krone of Tulbagh who were among those confirmed for the festival in Durban but not listed among exhibitors at the Cape Town event. Much regarding the Durban festival had yet to be finalised at the time of writing, including whether there will also be food and wine pairing sessions at the August show – tasting room tickets for the pairings in Cape Town were sold out in advance of the festival.
