Cederberg Shiraz only SA gold medallist at Syrah du Monde

From the Rhône Valley…

159 WINES from 20 countries were entered in the 2026 edition of Syrah du Monde held at the Ampuis Castle in the Rhône Valley, France. After two days of judging, 52 wines were considered medal-worthy – 23 silvers and 29 golds, including one from the only winery on the slopes of the Cederberg mountains in the Western Cape.

The 2022 Cederberg Shiraz was South Africa’s only gold medallist on this occasion. The current-release 2021 (R300pb ex-cellar) was awarded gold at the competition in 2025.

SA silver medallists included Groot Constantia’s 2022 Shiraz, the 2024 Reserve Syrah from La Motte in Franschhoek and another Cederberg wine, Teen die Hoog Shiraz 2023.
