Three top Cape Chenins at under R100 a bottle – no matter what vintage!

THREE CHENINS recommended in the 2020 Uber Value SA wine guide are also to be found in the 2020 SA Wine Classification, which makes them particularly attractive! The thing is, over the past 10 years they’ve been greeted with good to very good reviews time and again, the latest top ratings and awards following a number of others for a string of vintages. The track records are such that you can buy them with confidence without worrying about when they were made… They’re not flagships, nor cutting-edge, but they’re always gonna be delicious and just look at the price!

At the time of writing, Alvi’s Drift Signature Chenin Blanc was selling for R62 a bottle ex-cellar in Worcester – having pleased the critics at the Michelangelo Awards in 2020 and at the National Wine Challenge the year before. Sold out ex-cellar in Stellenbosch at R68pb but available at retail stores for around R75pb, the standard Stellenrust Chenin Blanc recently impressed at the Top 10 Challenge as well as in the Winemag Report, with earlier vintages having excelled at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and elsewhere. Whereas the Windmeul Chenin Blanc – selling at the cellar in Paarl for R55pb – has regularly won Double Gold medals at both the Veritas and Michelangelo Awards. Can’t go wrong!
