Constantia Glen… Hall of Fame winery, good lunch for under R200

CONSTANTIA GLEN. Down the main road from the Constantia Nek traffic circle for those travelling via Hout Bay or Bishop’s Court / Newlands in Cape Town. Home to some of South Africa’s most highly rated blends – white and red – over the past 10 years, as well as a decent restaurant. The Constantia Glen TWO white blend (R100pg) is recommended with the Trout Rosti (R190), and other items on the menu include a Wagyu Burger (R185) and Austrian Goulash (R180), which perhaps you could pair with the Constantia THREE red blend (R110pg).

Aside from fine dining – click here for the very best restaurants on the Cape’s wine farms – there are destinations along the country’s various wine routes that appeal both as producers of such consistently good drinks that they’re included in the Top Wine SA Hall of Fame, and as the setting for tables where you can lunch inside or out for quite a bit less than you might expect. Constantia Glen is such a place.
